Our client is an innovative provider of small business loans. As the company grew, so did its requirements for a reliable computing infrastructure. It engaged 724 Data to provide comprehensive IT infrastructure support and proactive management.
Overview
Prior to partnering with 724 Data, the client had an independent contractor whom it called whenever problems arose. By relying on this traditional break/fix approach, its systems were unreliable. The long response times while waiting for a service call were interfering with its ability to service a growing client base.

Infrastructure Assessment
724 Data performed an Infrastructure Assessment to determine the state of the computing environment and to make recommendations to ensure a stable, optimized infrastructure. Several recommendations and improvements were identified.
Performance and System Memory
The client had been experiencing slow performance. 724 Data determined that this was due to low memory on the servers and workstations. Some servers that housed business applications were close to running out of space. This would have brought the server and application down. By proactively monitoring the systems, the memory issue was identified and downtime was averted.
Data Protection and Disaster Recovery
The client performed manual data backup that required a large backup window. 724 Data implemented an improved data protection process and implemented clear backup procedures. The backup process was automated and procedures for tape rotation and offsite storage were developed. Additionally, 724 Data initiated data testing and validation to ensure the integrity of the backup process.
The client is in the process of implementing a final recommendation to install a second server for disaster recovery purposes at an offsite location.
Application Infrastructure Consulting
724 Data provided infrastructure guidance during an ACT contact management database upgrade. 724 Data's engineers had concerns regarding the installation procedures for the application. Engaging directly with the software vendor, the 724 Data team worked tenaciously to speak with the right technical resources to resolve this issue. The 724 Data recommendations were simpler and required fewer changes to the core infrastructure. More importantly, by following these recommendations, future technical problems were averted including likely network outage.
Additional Projects
The client is so pleased with the support provided by 724 Data that it has engaged 724 Data for additional projects.
724 Data was completed an office expansion in three hours, which included moving the production server and installing new workstations. Due to the meticulous planning, the move was without incident. 724 Data had engineers onsite the following business day to address any potential issues and to assist end-users. However, no problems were encountered and the experience was seamless.
Currently, the client has requested 724 Data's services for a pending workflow project.
